Third Annual Book & Abandoned Treasures Sale
Saturday, September 13, 2008
10 a.m.-4 p.m.
Join us during the 2008 Wine and Crafts Faire for our third annual Book & Abandoned Treasures Sale. This is one of the Society’s annual fundraisers and you can help in two ways: 1) Donate your old books and “white elephants” to the Society (between August 13th-September 12th on Tuesdays-Thursdays 12-4 p.m. Society staff determines whether the items will be accepted for sale.) and 2) Stop by on Sept. 13th to see what treasures you can find.
Our mission:
The Napa County Historical Society is a research, archival and educational organization dedicated to the discovery, preservation and presentation of the people and history of Napa County, and its place in California History. Our purpose is to keep history alive through historical research, publications and educational activities. The Society is a 501 (c) 3 non-profit organization supported by membership dues, donations and volunteers.

The County's first library, the Goodman Library, currently houses the Society's Research Library, changing exhibition gallery, Victorian tea room and administrative offices. The Society is open Tuesday-Saturday, Noon- 4 p.m.
The Jess Doud Memorial Room hosts several exhibitions each year. Entertaining Napa, Before Television is the Society's current exhibition chronicling entertainment from the early 1880s until 1950. Visitors will be immersed in a 1920s family room scene, the Opera House in 1880, the Napa County Fair at the turn of the 20th century and a 1940s film house. Admission is free, although donations are greatly appreciated.
Napa County Historical Society Research Library is proud to announce the launch of an online database of our collections. This is a multi-year project (partially funded by the County of Napa and the Giles and Elise Mead Foundation). Due to the size of our collection, only some of our holdings are available for on-line searches at this time. Items will be added on a regular basis. The Research Library is staffed by a team of volunteers who are available to answer questions and conduct research. The NCHS Research Library is not a lending library, but interested individuals are welcome to visit the Library during open hours to view any of the items in the collection.
